Just a couple of months ago, 'A current affair' aired stories of everyday mums making it big on eBay in their spare time. They were all making great extra income with zero stress and said that their lives had improved because of the extra money eBay was allowing them to bring into the home.

Here's what they had to say.

"We discovered there was a huge market on eBay, but it was the plus-size clothing — sizes 16-28. We then realised our business had to grow in a different direction," she says.

Jenny buys sale items in shops and sells them for a profit on eBay. The business became so successful that Jenny's partner Shane has quit his job to work at home with her.

"It got to a stage where Jen did say 'help, I can't do it all on my own' and I was a bit dubious dancing into the women's clothing sector, but it's worked well," Shane says.

Now, thanks to the money they've made on eBay, the couple is about to buy their dream home.

Mother of three Tracy Hanna is also riding high on the eBay-selling craze. "It's everything to me. I'm a shop-a-holic and this is guilt-free money to spend," she says.

Tracy looks for brand name items that are on sale because she says brand names sell well on eBay. "I just got on and started having a look and it opened up a whole new world to me and it's become a little bit of an obsession," she says.

Tracy has sold everything from picture frames and children's furniture to clear shoeboxes.

Like many stay at home mums, Mary Simas was having trouble making ends meet until she discovered how to make money on eBay.

"I was originally buying from eBay, just browsing and seeing what there was and then I thought, hang on, I've got a lot of things at home that I could actually make money from," she says.

Mary estimates she has made up to $10,000 in a year. "I have made a lot of money and I'm very happy, it gives me more spending money and I'm not working, I'm a stay at home mum. So yeah, it makes it fun to me," she says.

Sian Kennedy from eBay says more and more mothers are trying their hand at online selling because it's so easy. They can do it when the kids are asleep or at school and can do it all from the comfort of their own home.

The answer was obvious from the start. The Internet of course.

While we didn’t get overnight success with this new venture, we absolutely poured our heart and soul into educating ourselves and learning everything we could about Internet marketing. We invested heavily into mentors, paid many thousands of dollars for our education and attended seminar after seminar until finally we found success.

You see, we understand that if you want the results that someone else has, you should only learn from someone who has them. You should never ask the advice of someone who does not have them because they’re just not qualified.

Finally, after a couple of years the hard work and the years of mentoring were paying off. And yes, there were tons of days where we wanted to throw in the towel and go back to what we already knew, but that would be admitting defeat and that’s not what we’re about. Failing wasn’t an option here.

As you can imagine, our education cost us a fortune but boy has it paid off ten fold.

Making money on the Internet in the early days definitely met all of our needs in more ways than we ever imagined. In fact, over the past few years we’ve practically traveled the world working from our laptops.

And then, in February 2006, out of the blue our business took a turn that changed our lives forever….

It was one morning while Amanda was sitting on the beanbag in our home office staring out at the blue ocean. She was feeling frustrated, antsy and ready for a change. Although she loved our Internet lifestyle, she didn’t like the fact that we were never absolutely certain of the amount of money that would come in via cheques each month.

You see, like most people, we like to plan for the future and know how much money is going to come in each month. This was very important for us at our stage in life because we had big plans for the future and wanted to plan well in advance. The uncertainty was too much for us and we didn’t like how it made us feel.

This is when we turned our full attention to selling on eBay. Again, we invested very heavily into mentoring and learning from some of the top eBay sellers in the world.

Again, we only asked the advice and training from people who already had the results we wanted. Once again, the investment we made to fast track our results paid off very, very quickly. We achieved instant results and started to make a full time living on eBay almost immediately.

The feeling of having instant success is hard to explain. At first it was pure excitement, and then the feeling of uncertainty that Amanda had felt for months started to go away. She was happier, less stressed (moody ;-) and knew that day in, day out the money was going to come in. 

Within the first few months we were turning over around $10,000 a month, which took us to Bronze Power Seller level. Within five months it had reached $25,000 per month, which gave us Silver Power Seller status, and by January 2007, we had reached Platinum Power Seller status, which meant we were turning over a minimum of at least $50,000 every month.

We were only working in our eBay business part-time…

Not a day goes past that we don’t pinch ourselves at how easy and profitable our eBay business has become and here’s why…
